Distilleries
We are a new riff on an old tradition, that tradition or theme being Kentucky Bourbon. Founded in 2014 by Ken Lewis, a visionary Kentucky liquor retailer and entrepreneur, New Riff is led by a team of corporate refugees ranging from craft beer to politics and more. New Riff crafts a range of whiskeys—Bourbon, Rye, and eventually Malted Rye and a host of specialty recipes—as well as Kentucky Wild Gin. Our mission is simple: to someday be counted among the world’s great small distilleries.
Making good Whiskey doesn’t happen by chance. It takes sacrifice, hard work and risk-taking, just like the American Dream. Both require honoring steadfast traditions, knowledge of the fundamentals and having a bold vision. These are the pillars of O.Z. Tyler the man, and of our distillery. We are Kentucky Bourbon – from a new perspective.
Old Elk Distillery was founded by Curt and Nancy Richardson, the innovators who created OtterBox and Blue Ocean Enterprises. Old Elk Distillery follows the Richardsons' tradition of innovation by crafting spirits unlike any other. Led by an experienced and passionate team, Old Elk prides itself on developing premium products. While our passion is transcending tradition to create timeless spirits, Old Elk is additionally driven by its grassroots charitable mission statement – We Grow to Give. Our mission speaks to the core of who we are and to the foundation on which Old Elk is built.
Our founder, George Garvin Brown, was born September 2, 1846 in Munfordville, KY. In 1863 he moved to Louisville to attend high school, and eventually became a pharmaceutical salesman. And it was that particular line of work that led him to create the First Bottled Bourbon™, Old Forester, in 1870.
The Old Pogue Distillery is located at 716 W 2nd Street, Maysville, KY on the same grounds where the historic H.E. Pogue Distillery was located. We proudly produce small batch rye and bourbon whisky using the same ingredient combinations and methods found in the recipes of our forefathers. Our distillers, Paul Pogue and John Pogue, are fifth and sixth generation Pogues, respectively. The Old Pogue property includes the historic home of the Pogue family and an artisan distillery, complete with tasting room, grain holding, and barrel storage.
Julian Van Winkle, III is the third generation Van Winkle to be involved in the Kentucky Bourbon whiskey business. His grandfather, who was known as "Pappy", started the family in the business back in the 1870s when he was a salesman for the W.L. Weller & Sons liquor wholesalers in Louisville. He later built and was president of the Stitzel-Weller Distillery in Louisville, which opened its doors on Derby day, 1935. Their prominent brands were W.L.Weller, Rebel Yell, Cabin Still and Old Fitzgerald bourbons.
Founded in January of 2010 by Kirby Kallas-Lewis, OOLA Distillery was one of the first distilleries to open in Seattle post-Prohibition. OOLA produces small, handcrafted batches of premium spirits. Alongside OOLA Distillery's production facility is our tasting room with bottles available for purchase.
Oregon Spirit Distillers is committed to local agriculture and Oregon’s bold independent personality. We strive to bring quality, premium spirit brands, which are unique, interesting and outstanding in their class.
We are fearless craftsmen. A lot of distilleries these days are touting “craft quality,” without the booze to back their claims. Which is unfortunate for them, and funny to us. ‘Cause we consider ourselves to be true Practice-What-We-Preachers that’ll never lead your taste buds astray. We have this strange impulse to strive for the unique, not the expected. Failure doesn’t scare us. Nor does the status quo. Or tradition. On the other hand, spiders do scare us. Especially those big spiders with the hairy legs. But we don't let them into the distillery. We are creative perfectionists.
